Committee Mission Statement
To find ways to enable our local Teams to increase their membership and make REACT
grow. Growth starts at the Team level and only the Teams can make us grow. Our job is to help provide the tools
and techniques to make the Team's job easier and more successful.
REACT Mission
Statement
The mission of REACT International is to
provide public safety communications to individuals, organizations, and
government agencies to save lives, prevent injuries, and give assistance
wherever and whenever needed. We will strive to establish a monitoring
network of trained volunteer citizen-based communicators using any and
all means to deliver the message.

DEVELOPMENT & RETENTION COMMITTEE
e-mail:
The following responsibilities for
the Membership Development and Retention Committee serve as guidelines for committee
operation. These guidelines are subject to change as situations may
warrant.
- Encourage the growth of REACT International by attracting new member
prospects and doing necessary follow-up. Coordinate with RI headquarters
office to accomplish this task.
- Assist Teams in the following areas:
Recruitment of new members
Retention of existing members
Recovery of former members
- Assist in the establishment of new Teams (work with respective region
directors)
- Reactivate former Teams (work with respective region directors)
- Research membership policies and issues and making recommendations to REACT
International, Councils and Teams on related matters. Such research and
recommendations to REACT International may include changes and additions in
membership categories.
- Establish a presence or link for use on Team and/or Council Internet web sites
for the attraction of new members.
- Develop and publish a current listing of REACT membership advantages and
opportunities and an explanation of REACT membership.
- Develop any other plans or programs that will increase REACT membership.
Formed in 1998, the Membership
Development Committee is tasked with reviewing the many ideas
and suggestions received annually and finding ways to implement them as quickly as possible.
As with almost all positions within our organization, this one is
voluntary, providing ample room
for individual contribution and creativity. With background knowledge of publications, computer technology,
and a combination of military and government service experiences, the Committee makes numerous suggestions / recommendations
via our individual e-mail, personal contacts and newsgroup postings.
BENEFITS OF REACT MEMBERSHIP -
Membership in REACT is no different than any other adventure ... the more you put into it, the more you get out
of it. Membership in REACT includes the following benefits:
- Receive The REACTer magazine.
- Authorized to wear REACT apparel.
- Authorized to use REACT I.D. materials.
- Discounts on car rentals, hotels, etc.
- Discounts from K40 Electronics
- Training materials.
- Insurance coverage (Group Liability, Optional Accidental)
- Regional, national, and international activities.
An additional benefit is
Team involvement. By design, a member
is always part of a Team. Teams provide a support network for solving radio problems, getting feedback for
ideas, and helping the public. Many Teams/Councils provide web sites with lots of good information regarding upcoming events,
meeting information, links to other Teams and agencies they cooperate with, and much more.
Membership in REACT offers opportunities. In additional to the many web sites,
many REACT Teams provide training, publish newsletters, and participate with emergency service agencies.
Want to expand and seek opportunities on an international scale? Volunteers are always needed to assist the
RI International Committees and it's easy to get involved.
REACT needs members who can be relied upon in times of emergency. These members
must be willing to set an example for those of the radio communication community who are not familiar with our
organization.
Life
Membership. It is a distinctive honor for those REACT members who have the title
of Life Member. All of them proudly sign their name and indicate their
LM number. Each
year at the annual RI convention, Life Members are given special recognition and gather together at a special dinner
in their honor.
Why do individuals become life members? That can be summed up in the words of Life Members themselves. We asked
our Life Members two questions:
1. Why did you become a Life Member?
2. What does Life Membership mean to you?
Their responses are offered here.
For additional information, please contact the
Membership Development & Retention Committee at the
e-mail address above. Changes and additional information will be published
as it becomes available.
Do you enjoy two-way radio
communication? That is the single, most important prerequisite to
membership in an organization with Teams in every state of the United
States. But, it doesn't stop there. Our name
"says" and we "are" an international organization
