Pie Throw, ICOM display, Seminars and meetings
(Banquet will be included on next page due to size)
Wednesday...
Wednesday morning started off too early at 7am with the Amateur Breakfast over at Shoney's Restaurant, about a block down the street from the Holiday Inn. We had been given the choice of paying $15/ea to stay in the hotel, or $5.50 each to browse Shoney's breakfast buffet after walking a block. Guess what? Yep, Shoney's here we came. About 15 amateur radio operators attended, but the camera got left behind for this one.
The board met for several hours on the topic of bylaws and election of officers for the upcoming year. All board meetings were open other than some short meetings which involved discussion of personnel matters and/or potential litigation. Some controversy was generated when one former director's name was put forth to be Treasurer, based upon the premise that officers did not have to be directors. After much controversy and discussion, that idea was shelved in favor of alternate arrangements.
Seminars this date included Fund Raising and Crisis Intervention.
There weren't many photos taken this date, so we are including some photos from Thursday happenings, prior to the banquet.
Thursday...
Here are some photos of the ICOM Display Bus which was outside the hotel on Thursday.

After the ICOM bus was toured, we had a pie throw out in the same parking lot to raise funds for a REACT family who had suffered heavy medical bills for their daughter in recent months.
The announced winners were Jeff Parrish, Dorothy Criswell and Lynda Faulkner who pooled their money to win the pie. The total was announced, but I failed to write it down. The announced recipient of this cream pie was to be... Lee Besing. (So know you know why I didn't pay much attention when they announced the money raised, I was trying to figure a way to become invisible! - Lee)
Fortunately for me, they had someone else in mind, someone who would not suspect a thing until that pie hit him in the chest. Lynda asked Shawne Howe, of REACT Services Diversified, to take a photo of the action. But because he would be close to me when the pie hit me in the face, he needed to wear a plastic bag like I was wearing. It never dawned on him that Lynda Faulkner wasn't wearing a bag, and she would be even closer than him to the splatter of the pie. As Lynda reared back with the pie, she turned 90 degrees and splatted Shawne on the chest instead of the face, because he was quietly standing there with a camera held in front of his face waiting for that magic moment!
After the camera was moved, the pie moved in for a closer hit, all over his face as well.
