Lawson "Smitty" Smith (Mark Twain REACT -MO) has just completed marking new locations
of canteens within ground Zero and keeps HQ personnel up to date on the needs of the canteens in the Field. PS: This Canteen Survey was verified in person by Smitty and other REACT members on foot! Ground zero is a very large area and walking results in sore feet! It took 2.5 hours to make the rounds of all canteens. |

Members from Mark Twain REACT C336 (MO) pose for a photo outside of of NYC Salvation Army Divisional HQ on the first day they arrived in NYC ready to work. They drove that van behind them from Missouri, 1148 miles in over 18 hours straight through so they could maximize the amount of time spent helping instead of driving. Mobility was enhanced by using a "Gator" a 6 wheeled tractor that was driven here by a Salvation Army volunteer. There was a problem with one of the other canteens and Carlos Varon was sent to help resolve it. |

Temporary antennas were a requirement to re-establish communications after many of the city's
normal antennas were destroyed by the attack on the WTC. The antenna belongs to Jeff Schneller, N2HPO (Emergency Medical REACT (NYC), TSAEDS / SATERN AROLO . Antenna had to be moved from the basement DHQ qtrs to the "lobby" area to enhance communications. |
